Finally, after doing some major rearrangement in my house last night, I was able to set the ethernet connectivity into my Touch. Once I did that, I ssh-ed (is that a verb?) into the Touch and applied Soundcheck's tt --wlan command. What that command does is kill the wireless router inside the Touch. Kills it dead!
Man, I know I'm gonna get a lot of flak (and who knows, maybe even some lossless FLAC?) for saying this, but what an amazing improvement! True, there is some expectation bias at play here, I was indeed expecting some improvements, but THIS MUCH? Come on! Suddenly, the music started feeling more natural, less strenuous. Many previously never heard details emerged clear as a day. The glare and harshness got reduced even more, and now I'm able to easily follow quieter instruments behind the louder, more brash ones. Same applies to vocals and the background choirs. Speaking of choirs, it is now such joy to listen to choral music, to be able to clearly discern each and every individual human voice in the mass of voices. Switching back to wireless immediately confirmed my findings. The glare increases, the details recede into the background, the increased strain is palpable. Switch back to disabling the wi fi, and things just relax, and the music pours out of the speakers effortlessly. My only explanation is that the wireless component inside the Touch must be quite noisy, thus polluting the digital signal somehow. Because the differences during the listening tests are undeniable. I would have to say that of all the Soundcheck's mods, this one offers the most dramatic improvements in terms of sound quality. If you were to do just one mod, this should be the mod to do! -- magiccarpetride ------------------------------------------------------------------------ magiccarpetride's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=37863 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86201 _______________________________________________ Touch mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
