Downgrading indeed works with the solution you described. I downgraded to 7.5.3 and even to 7.5.1. Still the same message on screen... After some more struggling i found out that i clicked the wrong link and grabbed the _SqueezeCenter_ package from the Synology website instead of the _Squeezebox server_.
