Actually, just adding a cheap DAC (never mind a high end one) improves
the sound of the Touch, which is a bit on the grainy side.  When I
first heard the sound of the Touch analogue outputs it reminded me of a
cheapish CD player - that's after years of being used to a NAD SACD
player. Sure, it's better than most hard media players, but that really
doesn't say much does it. So I added a DACMagic to the Touch (by no
means a high end DAC, very cheap but great for the price, and it can
accept 24/96 incoming unlike the V-DAC) and the sound was transformed,
much closer to my NAD.

I would certainly encourage anyone to modify the Touch if not using an
external DAC.
