After doing some more experimentation, it appears there are two issues: 1. Albums may not appear at all when performing a clear library and rescan everything. 2. Cover art may not show up on certain albums.
After doing some experimentation I found as posted previously the workaround for the first issue is to simply re-scan library with setting "look for new and changed music". As for the second issue, I took two albums with embedded artwork (cleared out any references to external cover art) in a test directory. One album cover appears, the other it does not. If I extract the album coverfrom one of the tracks, delete the embedded cover, then embed it again, the album cover will appear. Since 7.5.5 had no problems with the library, I feel this is a bug.
