I think the responsible thing to have done here was to issue 7.6 as a beta if at all with attendant risks of harm (e.g. glitches and permanent incompatibility with MySB.com) rather than prompting the user to upgrade without such a warning. I am happy to decide to assume the risk when I am informed what the risk is. This is an elementary concept in law. When a car leaves the showroom floor, don't you expect forward and reverse gears to work and that once shifted to reverse you are stuck there?
