Anyway, I shall load ALL my files into mp3tag at once and have a look, and remove any obsolete albumartist tags. I had no idea that the Touch (or any media player) would apply tags to one file from another file. Thanks for your helpful advice - I'm clearly a noob as far as this is concerned but am happy to be learning.
