Upgraded to 7.6.1_r33002, rebooted everything, did a full delete & rescan - and so far no (serious) problems.... Oh, and there have been 2 Touch / Controller firmware updates since then too. However, there was something definitely wrong before - and I'm glad to report it's "gone" now.
