Can anyone shed light on what kind of algorithm the Touch uses when
Random Mix (Songs) is chosen? I've started using this feature recently
and really enjoy the surprises it throws up, but it does seem to be
including the same things in the playlist night after night. I
understand that if I've got seven or eight albums by one artist then
the likelihood (randomly speaking)is that that artist will feature more
heavily, but to have two tunes in ten from an artist with only one album
is a bit strange. To have that happen frequently is stranger still. To
have three tunes from one album in a list of about 15 is just stretching
belief about the nature of randomness.

For instance, last night, in a list of about a dozen generated, two
were from Pet Sounds, two from Elvis Costello (different albums) and
yet again, one from Lou Reed (one album but a track from it selected on
the last two nights playlists as well.

This isn't a complaint (well, not quite!) I'm just curious.
