My understanding is that there is no video interrupt, applications put data in the framebuffer memory and the hardware takes care of sending it out to the screen without interrupting the processor at all. Now of course programs that are changing the data in the framebuffer could theoretically cause an interaction with the audio processes (for example continuously scrolling text) but if you have a static display thats not going to happen. I tried the screen off and I didin't notice any difference is xrun behavior, but it does improve the sound.
