routers may need a reboot now and then, so you pull the plug . they
should not need it but they do.
The vortexbox is a computer with on and off button so turning it off
may have suficed.

The general advice is to first boot the router and be sure that it is
running and then the server and finally the player and other stuff , is
probably to avoid some bugginess in dhcp and be sure everything gets new
ip adresses asigned in some orderly fashion. And if you have an ip
conflict you will notice when everythingnstarts to fall apart.

Other posibilities.

Some routers have some kind of autoselecting of wifi channels , it may
have picked a better channel this restart ( a better idea is to find
out which one to use and set that permanently ).

Some users have a mix of static ip assigned stuff and dhcp stuff, but
forgets to limit the routers dhcp range so it can sometimes assign ip
that already is used.
