I learned a bit (pun intended)! The laptop shows 3 GB RAM available - not the 4GB installed, which I understand is due to 32-bit OS.
I know a few who run LMS from Synology NAS with 1GB RAM and 1.8 Ghz processors with excellent results. I understand the Synology does not run Windows 7, as well. I have stopped all other services and removed any programs not needed, such as Flash, etc. I have the 64-bit version of Windows 7, but I think I will listen for a while and see if re-installing Windows 7 to 64-bit is worth the time.
