Unfortunately, it's not easy to reinstall the old version automatically.
You can manually download it from:
http://code.google.com/p/triodeapplets/downloads/list

You would then need to scp into the touch and unzip that file into
/usr/share/jive/applets/EnhancedDigitalOutput

The only actual change between 0.4 and 0.5 is the jive_alsa binary - but
I am bemused that it fails for you as the only change was intended to
occur for 100% volume.  I suspect its a more generic issue with the
update process.  Are you able to ssh into touch and look at what appears
in /var/log/messages when you select the usb dac?
