i'll point out (as I'm accused of doing too often by some who were
struggling with tinyLMS in the ToUCH and assume I'm denying that they
have problems ;-) that my brother uses a TOUCH with an older USB
harrdrive (at least 4 years old, can't recall the brand, could be a WD).
He has about 50,000 mp3 and m4a files (no FLAC) and it works fine for
him. He does have an internet connection too, so he gets internet
radio, pandora, etc. He leaves the USB drive permanently attached
(which is good, as this means he doesn't have to deal with rescanning
when reattached). His drive is old enough not to have all the new fancy
things (like separate partititions that act as CD drives, etc. etc.).
This is probably a good thing (for his use at least). I'm thinking
he's been setup this way for about two years. He knows nothing about
how all this stuff works. I walked him through the intital setup and
he's mostly ignored ever since other than pressing OK on the screen to
accept firmware updates.....
