Yeas if I where to go with this aproach I would just use a powered USB
to SATA adapter and just any hard drive left over .
Or buying a an powered USB enclosure for a drive .

I do not fully understand why manufacturer of USB drive's are spamming
thier products in so many ways with virtual cd drives etc ? That's what
I think it is ,spam ? They want a tray icon and some brand labeled
software to keep the user oblivious to the fact that he could be using
any such drive , providers of nameless commodities desperately want's
brand recognition .
But it is not helping the end user it makes the product harder to use ?

I just groan every time I have to use some USB stick on a pc and yet
another crap software want's to install usually a manager of some kind ,
I like it better on Linux or Mac where it just mounts and sit there
ready to be used.

Sometimes a no name product is better here, so I usually pick USB sticks
or drive from the no name bin , because I know if get one of the big
brands I have to reformat it and sometimes do away with some hidden
partition that spams the product even more .

Hint here Linux is a bliss , just run gparted and it's done in a jiffy
