Two comments. First, I find recordings to be far more variable than anything I do to my system. Sometimes the tweak that best highlights one recording brings out the worst in another. The problem in trying to "fix" things that way is it quickly becomes a dog chasing its own tail. Second, humans have very vivid imaginations and it is very easy to make grand declarations about small changes.
