sorry, I'm being daft this morning, but I'm still confused.  You have
your Touch connected via ANALOG to your DAC?  That can't be good.  Are
you saying:

1. Touch > Analog out > DAC > receiver
2. Touch > digital out (S/PDIF or optical) > DAC > Receiver
3. Touch > Analog out > Receiver

you are saying 1 or 2 is better than 3, but 1 is better than 3?  Or are
you saying 3 is best, and 2 is marginally better than 1.  (And I'm still
confused with the idea of going from analog out from touch, reconverting
to digital within the DAC, then converting back to analog to feed
receiver. 

Also, I'm assuming the receiver is not doing any digital processing
itself. Many newer receiver, particularly Home Theater receivers, have 
their own DAC and even when you feed them with analog they reprocess the
audio. Some have a "pure" bypass mode for connecting analog from other
sources.
