I'm not familiar with most of your equipment, but if I understand your hookup correctly, you are controlling the volume of your main speakers via the preamp pot but sending the full (non attenuated) signal from the SBT to your sub. If this is indeed the case, then it's not surprising that your sub's output is overwhelming. Can you insert your preamp BEFORE the X-over? If you can, then controlling volume either through the preamp pot or through the SBT digital volume will not alter the relative volume of main speaker to sub.
