I assume you are using an external HHD directly attached to the USB port of the Touch to play local music files stored on the HDD ? What I would try is to press in the tiny pin on the back of the Touch which will then bring up a screen telling you Factory Settings have been restored. Then go through the setup process. Hope this helps. In the long run you would probably be much happier w setting up a network and having your HDD attached to a PC much more stable that way.
