Well, I did link the other drives/folders to the first drive by shortcuts, made LMS scan the whole collection again (which took several hours) and -low and behold- everything was scanned correctly and flawlessly. Apparently this is the best way to go after all. I'm listening to my music again. Thank you all for thinking with me and giving suggestions.
