That is actually a player setting and some player settings are local to
the server . That is the same player can have different settings when
connected to different servers .

When running Touch with an hard drive or SD card it runs it's own
ligthwiegth (crippled) version of the server .

Touch barely has the memory and cpu to do this (and no plugins web-UI or
transcoding etc ) so it's not that excitting .
If the Touch where produced today it would proobably have more CPU power
and actually be a self contained system .
