The simplest suggestions are often the best!  I did that (via EBay) and
between us we had it fixed in a moment.

Just for the record, once the previous owner had deleted that player
(give him the MAC address, so he can be sure he's deleting the correct
player if he has a big system), I then hit the Connect to MySB.com
option on the local Squeezebox and, instead of going to his account, it
now asked (just the once) for my account and log-in details, and then
showed up in MYSB.com web-portal as one of my players.
