No, very likely a bad idea to just hook a USB drive to your TOUCH. Then you'll be using the "tinyLMS" built into the TOUCH as your server. It is underpowered and has issues. It *can* work, but most people get frustrated with it quickly. Good news is that there are lots of options for headless, tiny "computers" that can run LMS (and your music can be on a HDD attached to that "tiny computer"). This computer can be in a cabinet connected to your router via ethernet. It doesn't need to be near your stereo or TOUCH. I personally use Vortexbox server (purchased from small green computers). But one can make their own Vortexbox with almost any old computer. Then there are "Pi" computers that many here use, or QNAP NAS units, etc. Bottom line: get yourself a small sever that you can leave on 24/7 to run LMS. *Home:* VortexBox 4TB (2.3) > LMS 7.8 > Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio (all ethernet) *Cottage:* VBA 3TB (2.3) > LMS 7.8 > Touch > Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) *Office:* Win7(64) > LMS 7.9 > Squeezelite *Spares:* Touch(3), Radio(3), Boom, SB3, CONTROLLER *Controllers:* iPhone6 & iPadAir2 (iPeng8 & Squeezepad), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.8 on Win7(64) laptop *Files:* ripping: dbpoweramp > FLAC; post-rip: mp3tag, PerfectTunes; Streaming: Spotify ------------------------------------------------------------------------ garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104441 _______________________________________________ Touch mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
