No, very likely a bad idea to just hook a USB drive to your TOUCH. Then
you'll be using the "tinyLMS" built into the TOUCH as your server. It is
underpowered and has issues. It *can* work, but most people get
frustrated with it quickly.   Good news is that there are lots of
options for headless, tiny "computers" that can run LMS (and your music
can be on a HDD attached to that "tiny computer").  This computer can be
in a cabinet connected to your router via ethernet. It doesn't need to
be near your stereo or TOUCH.

I personally use Vortexbox server (purchased  from small green
computers). But one can make their own Vortexbox with almost any old
computer.  Then there are "Pi" computers that many here use, or QNAP NAS
units, etc.  Bottom line:  get yourself a small sever that you can leave
on 24/7 to run LMS.
