our brains work funny tricks on us. This is well documented in science. Many people (and lots of audiophiles) think that they are exempt from this! Sighted evaluations of things (where you know what is being changed) bring about all sorts of demand effects, with all the associated biases.** If you haven't done your comparisons "double blind" then they don't mean much, if anything. You should at least do single blind (someone changes the source playing without you knowing which is which). The other thing to keep in mind is that every CD player I've ever owned has a different default volume level. I suspect your "better" sound is from somewhat (even imperceptible) louder volume. (** and please don't bring up the usual canards of "I wasn't expecting a change, so obviously I must hear it" or "My wife in the kitchen even asked me if I had changed something because she noticed the audio being better.") It's your money and your time, but going down the rat hole of power supplies, mods, etc. trying to improve the TOUCH is an audiophool's errand. *Home:* VortexBox 4TB (2.3) > LMS 7.8 > Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio (all ethernet) *Cottage:* VBA 3TB (2.3) > LMS 7.8 > Touch > Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) *Office:* Win8(64) > LMS 7.9 > Squeezelite *Spares:* Touch(3), Radio(3), Boom, SB3, CONTROLLER *Controllers:* iPhone6 & iPadAir2 (iPeng8 & Squeezepad), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.8 on Win7(64) laptop *Files:* ripping: dbpoweramp > FLAC; post-rip: mp3tag, PerfectTunes; Streaming: Spotify ------------------------------------------------------------------------ garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105701 _______________________________________________ Touch mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
