Well I sort of solved the problem. I have a really old Samsung Infuse Android phone. I copied the old Logitech Remote install (Squeezebox-5.apk) to the phone, tweeked security to allow a non Google install, started the app, logged into mysqueezebox.com and viola... the exact app that I needed, and no LMS! Lordy I wish the current available apps on Google worked as a remote only without need for a LMS. I'm sure it would be an easy setting to add (don't look for LMS) but I couldn't easily find a place to request such a tweak. Perhaps someone who is more needy than I can request this.
