Hello, Near the end of my status report [1] I mentioned some extensions tpserver could make to allow Starmapper to view the entire universe and not just one player. The proposals are: * add a guest player * dump reports about every turn * allow Starmapper to log in as multiple players (which is a client-side modification and requires passwords from everyone). Mithro has an excellent addition to this: * allow an admin player to connect to the server and view (and perhaps manipulate?) the entire universe.
Any other views on this? I think the last one has my preference, both from the viewpoint of solving Starmapper's problem as well as making sense in a general way. It would be nice if this were inherently supported in tpsever-cpp, and not in the rulesets. Being able to manipulate the universe in some degree would be even more fun and it could allow a whole different game type, kinda campaign-like with an admin/dungeon master. Is this a good idea? How much of this would be possible with the current tpserver-cpp implementation and would it be much work? Is the recent work on remote configuration applicable here?
