Hi Chris,

Please open a defect and provide more details (see my questions bellow).

Which TPTP build are you using?
What profiling mode/filters are you using?
Check how big is the profiling file that you tried to delete (look in the project for a trcaxmi file name that starts with the monitor name and contains the node name and also the profiled process PID)? That file as all the other profiling files is in ZIP format, if you open it with WinZip you could also check the ResourceContents uncompressed size.
Did you open any other profiling files in any view before the delete operation?

If you restart TPTP and then try to delete old profiling files without opening them in any view (make sure that link with viewer is not enabled and close all the profiling views before restart) it should be really quick.

Thanks,
Marius

Subject
[tptp-tracing-profiling-tools-dev] Problems with Profiling

All:

I am seeing some repeated behaviors in TPTP profiling that I must report that are annoying.  I am Profiling our RCP app using RAServer.exe.

1)       Every time I profile some part of our app, I set up a new profile when I click on the Profile button, it takes upwards of a 1 minute for it to launch the Profile perspective.
2)       When I click on the “Start Monitoring” button, there is a rapid flicker between the arrow cursor and the wait cursor.  This will go on for some time but if I click in the Profiler Monitor tree it will stop doing this and then starts monitoring.  Very quirky.
3)       Lastly, the biggest problem for me is deleting old profile runs to clean up the Profile Monitor tree.  If I click on an old one to delete it, it then prompts me to delete the contents in the file system or not.  If I choose yes to delete the contents, Eclipse is hung pretty much indefinitely, or until I lose my patience J.  I have to kill eclipse.

Thanks,

Chris
