Hi Bruno, If you follow Samson's suggestion you should be able to get trace files larger than 2GB because on the workbench side the trace data, when Profile to file option is used, is saved in zipped file, so you can get much larger traces.
After you profile to file you can import that file and specify extra import filters, because the Trace model is managed in memory only you may not be able to import the whole trace with most details. To reduce the in memory Trace model footprint you can use import/profile filters and the statistics (which are default in live profiling) collection modes (in both import or live profiling). You can also import different parts of the trace file to further reduce the Trace model footprint. Thanks ! Hi. There is no option to change the file output format to zip under standalone mode. On the other hand if you use start the profile in controlled mode and perform an attach from the eclipse workbench you might be able to redirect the profiling data to a file by checking the "Sending profiling data to a file" option under the "Destination" tab of the "Profile->Attach to agent" dialog. I guess this might workaround the system-imposed 2GB file size limit. I am getting the file size after applying the filters and trying to reduce xml trace file content using following configuration in ?jvmpi.pro? with TPTP 4.1: * * This is the profile file for the JvmPI Agent * Use this file to control the information content that is collected * All lines starting with an "*" are comment lines * * ************************************************************************************************************************************ * Global Options * These options must be set at Agent startup before any tracing has begun. * Please refer to \logging\agents\profiling_agent\doc\JvmProfilingAgent.htm for details. ************************************************************************************************************************************ ********************************** * Global Options - DEFAULT VALUE ********************************** CLASS_LOAD_DETAILS = false CONTEXT_FLOW = false EXCEPTION_TRACING = false FILTERS = true GC = default ID_STYLE = static OPTIONS = true TIMESTAMPS = true UNREFERENCED_SYMBOLS = false *********************************** * Global Options - INTERFACE VALUE *********************************** COLLATION_VALUES = false METHOD_COUNTS = false OBJ_ALLOC_IS_ARRAY = true OBJ_REF_MODE = filterOwner STACK_INFORMATION = normal TICKET = true TRACE_IDREFS = false Agent Controller running in "Controlled Mode" outputs xml trace files zipped; am I right? German, We do not have a workaround for the 2GB file size. Are you getting the file size after applying the filters and trying to reduce the footprint of profile?
