Christian was planning, at some point, to split the wiki engine into a parser and one (and more) renderer(s). I've been waiting for this feature to improve the ASCII email notifications, but I think Christian got preempted for many other Trac tasks.
I think it would be nice to get this feature implemented, as we need more than one kind of wiki converted text.
