Hi,

Currently I am working at a client who is planning to implement SVN +
Trac. This is a BIG governement organisation. They have a preference
for using MySQL as a backend simply because it is familiair, it is
already there, and there is knowledge about it.

I know MySQL support is still work in progress. I got it working
without any troubles however. Kudos for that!

However, when I read through the MySQL related issues in the trac on
edgewall, I find this issue:
http://trac.edgewall.org/ticket/5556

Look at the first comment by user cboos, apparently the maintainer of
this part of the code (??). He argues that MySQL support is too much
work and might be ditched in the near future.

I am very worried about his statement. What are current feelings
among developers about this? What is the roadmap for MySQL support in
say the next year? The organisation I work for now really wants to know.

If this user indeed is the lead developer for this part of the code,
could he react please? Also, if there are serieus plans about
ditching the official support, I would like to know what the big
issues are with supporting MySQL and why it is so difficult. It might
be -small chance but you never know- that others might be interested
in supporting it if really really needed.

Thanks a lot in advance for answering this question and of course
thanks again for making this beautifull product.

Pim Bliek
