Why do you have system installed ones + custom installed ones? Can't you 
just remove the system ones.

One of:
(1) Specify something on the configure line which tells it to
(2) Set LDFLAGS which will (hopefully but unlikely) override /usr/lib64
(3) Hack up the build code.
