Using an unknown column name will result in all tickets being returned in 
the results. Make sure you are using the column name, and not the custom 
ticket field label. To determine the column name, I find myself having to 
look in the [ticket-custom] section of trac.ini.

For example, in this case the column name is "test_one", but the label 
you'll see through the interface is "Test one":

test_one = text
test_one.label = Test one
