With a continuing amount of Trac releases, tickets opened and solved, and
an always alert and helpful community, we felt that it was time to start a
tradition of issuing an end of year message.

This year we have seen 12 releases in both the Trac 1.0 and 1.1 branch and
they were all minor releases. In addition, the work done this year paves
the way for our first major release since 2012, namely the Trac 1.2 release
slated for Q1 2016.

There have been contributions in countless other areas of Trac as well. We
have seen contributions to translations, updates to wiki pages,
improvements to our testing infrastructure, enhancements to code quality
and finally updates to the plugin descriptions at our sister site
TracHacks. This work resulted in every wiki page being reviewed at least
once and enable new contributors to work on a stable and even better
documented product and its extensions.

Edgewall, which created and continues to host Trac, Genshi and Babel has
generously offered to provide the hosting for trac-hacks.org as well. A
fully-functional switchover of trac-hacks.org to this organisation - with
better performance we should add - has been completed.

In addition, on GitHub the project https://github.com/trac-hacks has been
initiated that has a list of the currently known Trac plugins which are
hosted on GitHub. This will allow to keep track of Trac plugins while being
hosted outside of TracHacks.

Also on the tickets front, close to 400 tickets have been opened this year,
of which a little over 100 still remain open. For the plugins, about 500
tickets have been opened of which 170 still remain open.

Many thanks to all the people who have supported and continue to support
the project. Also our thanks to those providing feedback and bug reports
that help us making Trac better, easier to use and more effective.

Without your invaluable help, Trac would not evolve. Thank you and we hope
to see all of you again in the new year!
