There is no one "recommended way". I use mod_python exclusively here at
work, so I can say it holds up pretty well. A lot of people also use
FastCGI and seem to like it. CGI and tracd are not great for production
sites because both a pretty slow, but they do work just fine. When it
comes down to mod_python vs. FastCGI it really is just a matter of
preference.

You need to use the PythonInterpreter directive to keep each env
separate in memory. The problem stems from the fact that mod_python
can't tell one env from another, and will sometimes accidentally use an
object from the persistent cache of one Trac in another.
