ok, thanks for the update.
sounds great.

just FYI, you dont need to install mutt or sylpheed, you only need a 
maildir or mh compliant server such as postfix or courier. I can also 
provide with with dumps of some of my Maildir folders, let me know if 
there's more I can do to help (I program but not C ;-)
