I was wondering the location of the newest version and the source of the firmware. There were messages on this forum about using a serial cable to reflash the GTRANS processor.
I was thinking of maybe reprograming the processor to convert an Oregon WMR-968 weather station data stream to one of the weather stations that the Kenwood D710 decodes. That way I could get rid of having a dedicated computer so I can send my weather information to the Kenwood D710 directly. From the WMR-968 display console, then serial to the GTRANS processor for conversion to the 3.5mm connector feeding into the D710. It would be a fun project.
