UBCD seems to boot into FreeDOS for some utilities and Linux for others.
None got me anywhere. I haven't got a proper live CD burned yet.

I did try every possible setting for the SATA controller in the BIOS
(there are only three, plus 'disabled') and tried using a PCI SATA
controller. Didn't see any indication that the PCI card was showing up.

The thing boots Vista and runs just fine, so the hardware would seem to
be OK.

I've got the HC08 programming up and running on another PC, but not the
HCS08 stuff, and CodeWarrior is node locked to the dead machine. I
already have a fake NIC driver to get it to run on another machine, but
that's because I do my Coldfire stuff there. The Coldfire BDM, HCS08
BDM, MON08 pod, and EPROM burner don't play well together when you get
them all loaded on the same machine. It'll work for a little while
(maybe) and then it'll either get stuck in and endless cycle of
licensing errors (for the free P&E software!) or it'll start trashing
EPROMs.

And soon I'm going to have to make more SR1 end panels, which means
getting the CNC milling machine running again. Argh.

I think when I get this figured out I'm going to throw a spare drive in
the machine and just make a bootable backup image every week or so, in
addition to my nightly backups.

I've got more stuff burning now, and I might drive back to the office
tonight for another try.

Thanks,

Scott
