Not quite. He said... > About a year and a half ago, I bought a UT-41 GPS receiver to use with > a computer. It has a USB outlet. Can I chop the connector off, find > out what the four wire are. Two are for voltage, the other two +d > and -d. Can I connect these to a serial input? One could assume that his intention was to connect it to a T2, but it doesn't really matter what he was going to connect it to. The GPS receiver he mentioned connects to a USB host controller... i.e. he could just connect it to a USB port on his computer. A USB to serial adapter will only work connected to a USB host controller. His USB GPS receiver can't connect to a USB to serial adapter. He could pry the GPS receiver apart and find if the GPS receiver spat out NMEA with an RS-232 interface before the USB circuitry built into it, and a search yielded a few pages that hinted that it was possible. To me, it wouldn't be worth the effort or the risk. 73 es cul - Keith VE7GDH -- "I may be lost, but I know exactly where I am!"
