One could assume that his intention was to connect it to a T2, but it 
doesn't really matter what he was going to connect it to. The GPS 
receiver he mentioned connects to a USB host controller... i.e. he could 
just connect it to a USB port on his computer. A USB to serial adapter 
will only work connected to a USB host controller. His USB GPS receiver 
can't connect to a USB to serial adapter. He could pry the GPS receiver 
apart and find if the GPS receiver spat out NMEA with an RS-232 
interface before the USB circuitry built into it, and a search yielded a 
few pages that hinted that it was possible. To me, it wouldn't be worth 
the effort or the risk.
