Depends on what kind of "sensor" you are talking about.

The OT2 has 2 sensors built in, one senses voltage, and the other
senses temperature.

You can put another sensor outboard and have that information sent in
a telemetry packet.

If however you have some type of outboard device that is going to send
a serial stream of data (other than a weather station), you're going
to have a bit of trouble just plugging things in.

If you told us what the outboard sensor was, we would have a better
chance of possibly figuring out an answer for you.
