Make sure your OT2's PASSALL is off. I had a similar corruption problem, I tracked it down to my cell phone being too close to the FMI cable or Nuvi. It started when I started using a Bluetooth and had the cell phone on my dash near the cable and nuvi. It would do weird things like combine packets and display them as an incoming APRS message, made the OT2 send garbage with no position info. I noticed it happen when my cell phone received a call.
After moving the phone away from the Nuvi and cable, the problem stopped happening. Later, I added a few snap-on ferrite toroid cores to the cables, since I have a lot of two-way radios in my truck. I would guess that the serial data between the OT2 and NUVI probably doesn't have error checking. So something like a bad spark plug wire, or alternator whine could corrupt one or two bytes of data. Hope this helps, Alan - > I don't think this is the case, because I don't see the bad callsigns on my > home digi or anywhere else, only on the nuvi.
