I prefer software that's so simple that it needs little or no
documentation. That said, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that
I could enter Textile into the notes field... productivity increase!

Two thoughts: one, add a per-user configuration option to select
between Textile and Markdown. If I'd noticed an option like that on
the configuration page, then I would have discovered Textile goodness
sooner.

Second thought: show example text, colored #ccc, in the notes field, such as:
* bulleted
* list
"link to tracks":http://tracks.rousette.org.uk

Clear text and style textarea to have black text on focus.

OK, and a third thought: a note "template," with that example text by
default, that's used on new notes and editable per user.

Three ways to inform the user without a manual.
