Hey all, I hope everyone has had a nice summer, and Gotten plenty of Things Done.
Although this list has been quiet lately, the Trac and Subversion repository has not. We're moving along towards a 1.5 release of Tracks, and there are lots of new features and bug fixes in the trunk.
The most significant is a cool statistics page helping you review your usage of Tracks. The statistics feature was written by Reinier Balt, a long time user of Tracks and champion bug reporter.
I'm delighted to welcome Reinier as a new committer on Tracks. BSAG and I have also extended commit rights to Jacqui Maher and James Kebinger who have previously submitted good patches. Welcome and congrats to you three.
I just read through the description of changes in Rails 2.0, which is out in it's first preview release. (See http://weblog.rubyonrails.com/ 2007/9/30/rails-2-0-0-preview-release)
My question to the group is: should we upgrade to Rails 2.0 before the Tracks 1.5 release?
I'm inclined to do so, as some of the features will clean up some portions of Tracks a bit. I also find Tracks to be a great vehicle to learn new version of Rails, because it leverages so many aspects of the framework. On the down side, we open ourselves to bugs, incompatible plugins and more outside-of-Tracks issues that we would need to investigate and help get fixed.
Your thoughts? Cheers from NYC, Luke -- Luke Melia - http://www.lukemelia.com - New York, NY
