Thanks Reinier - that helped a lot.

I also got big improvements by disabling Xinerama in X (I have dual screens). This was done by adding the following line to the "ServerLayout" section of /etc/X11/xorg.conf:

        Option "Xinerama" "off"

Unfortunately, I can't drag windows between the two screens now (they function as independent desktops instead).

I have heard of this before. Disabling the transparencies from the
css will
get rid of the CPU load.
How can I do that? I tried replacing the word "transparent" with
"black"
in tracks/public/stylesheets/standard.css, then restarting both tracks
and browser, but it had no effect.

Cheers,
Orlando.

I'm thinking on completely removing transparency for the menu for
1.8...

Linux

Hi all,

Has anyone experienced performance problems viewing the tracks
interface
in Firefox under RHEL5 (and 4 before I upgraded)?

I get massive CPU load when scrolling the screen - which I don't see
on
other (Vista x64, Ubuntu 8.10) machines.

What libraries/plugins might be used by tracks to render the screen
-
including the fancy transparent menu bar :) - that might be running
slowly on my RedHat box?

Cheers,
Orlando.
