I think it depends on your workflow. The tickler / deferred actions are used in reviews, not really when you are selecting the next action to do right now. IMO, context views are for selecting the next action to do, not for reviewing.
GDT promotes reviewing your projects weekly, so it makes sense to show deferred actions in the project view. (Tag view is a bit different. I personally use it for review, others use it for searching. The latter case is why deferred actions are relevant in de tag view) You are right that it is not difficult to implement, but I am not convinced this helps the user in getting things done...
