Thanks for the suggestions everyone - it looks as if Google Groups is
the consensus, and the links above will be very useful.
One slight wrinkle is that I've now deleted my Google account, so
someone else will need to set up the group (this would make sense anyway
in terms of admin in the future).
I'll look into the exporting/migration side in the meantime.
