Works fine and gives me a shell on athena.

Doesn’t work, and indeed locks up Emacs completely so that a C-g won’t
kill it: C-g replaces “Waiting for prompts” with “Tramp: Opening
connection for swhitton@athena using ssh…done” but Emacs is
unresponsive.

This is very strange.
