I am a bit confused on the 277 Unsolicited Claim status requirements for HIPAA. In the
implementation guide of the 837 Professional (page 43) it states, "The discussion is
not intended to imply that the Unsolicited claim Status (277) transaction is part of
HIPAA-it is not.....the guide goes on to say "the Unsolicited Claims status (277)
transaction as a prudent business decision."
Any thoughts?
