If you are indeed a sponsor, and not a health plan under the definitions, then as a
sponsor you are not obligated to send or receive standard transactions. However, the
health plans with which you deal may ask or require you to send your informatoin using
the standard transactions for enrollment and disenrollment.

I am trying to determine impact of the Transaction/Code set requirements
within our organization. We are not a health plan, but seem to be a sponsor
(Enrollment and Disenrollment in a health Plan transaction). Can anyone sum
up the specific responsibilities of the sponsor under the transactions
requirements, or does must of this fall on the shoulders of the actual
health plan? Anthony
