Now that the gap analysis is completed on the CMS 1500 and CMS 1450 forms to an 837, is something being done to address these gaps? Will the forms change, new attached forms be created in order to get this information into systems or is each entity just dealing with these gaps on their own? Also, will ASPIRE be working on the UB92 forms at all?
We allow our providers to use print images to interface into our system and have tried to come up with several ways to address this and we're concerned on whether or not the forms will change. Our providers have also raised concern that their billing management software vendors will not be able to change their systems in time to fill these gaps. Any other updates would be very helpful. The gap analysis project, known as ASPIRE, identified the gaps between the paper claims and the 837 electronic claims. The results of the ASPIRE project can be found on the Association for Electronic Health Care Transactions (AFEHCT)'s web site; the URL is http://www.afehct.org/aspire.asp. >>> [EMAIL PROTECTED] 09/28/01 06:54PM >>> Does anyone have information on what is going to happen with the paper claim forms for the CMS-1500 and UB92? We are wrestling with the issue of the data content gap between the current paper forms and the ANSI 837 format. We are trying to determine how we will produce an outgoing 837 from an incoming paper CMS-1500 or UB92. We have heard that CMS and the National Uniform Billing Organization are doing an analysis on the forms, but we haven't heard anything more. What do you know?
