This issue was discussed at a 276/277 meeting I attended this morning with payers and providers in Southeast Michigan (HCIM). While not completely resolved, it was tentatively agreed that if a claim level inquiry is sent, the response would contain service level information ONLY for a professional claim.
The outcome of the discussion was that this should be fully resolved within the trading partner agreements. This group also discussed sending all service line information if a single service line inquiry is sent. We agreed that it would be appropriate in the case of a service line inquiry, since it would be easier to pull all lines rather than search for a specific service line. Or would they only return the STC segment at the Service Line Level, if I used the SVC segment in the 276 inquiry?
