Yes, I do see problems. From your description it appears that you would be
in violation of the "standard data content" requirements for the DDE
exception. I encourage you to check the FAQs from DHHS Admin Simp as well as
the regs on this.

Subject: DDE and the 276/277

Background:

We currently perform the Claims Status Inquiry today on our Web Site for
providers that allows for many search options including the ability to
search on specific procedure codes, check numbers etc.

The 276/277 Implementation Guide states that a claim status search has to
contain the following hierarchical loops: Provider, Member, Date of
Service(s).

Question:

In modifying my Claim Status Inquiry Web transaction for HIPAA compliance
and following the DDE exception, can I allow for searching without
requesting the specific member or date of service as long as I present the
data using HIPAA data content. Also, I am requesting that I provide for
additional elements to be queried on that do not exist on the IG from a
format perspective (check number) and am planning on continuing this,
otherwise my Web utilization will drop dramatically and my call volume will
increase. Does anyone see any issues with this?
